Dorcas Women operate Restaurant

It is located in the South Mall (across the road from the Suva central bus terminal), Shop number 11.

It opens at 8am and closes at 4pm five days a week.

It sells fresh salad, fruit juice, sandwiches and hot vegetarian meals.

It is 100% Adventist owned. It is managed and operated by the Suva South district Dorcas society.

On July 12 this year, The "Health Food Outlet" - opened its doors to the Suva city public. Mrs Atelini Dakua credits God for the securing of "prime space" and for the lives of women who have embraced this initiative and are pitching in  - in various ways. "It is still very early days - but business has been good. We are securing great discounts from vegetables and fruit suppliers in the market. Our customers got to know about us by word of mouth" she said.   Mrs Dakua and her husband, Peniasi Lavava, are both retired from full time church employment. They have been involved in community outreach activities even while they were full time church employees. In the last couple of years, a health food outlet within the Maternity Wing of Suva's CWM Hospital was operated by Mrs Dakua and Dorcas women. The opening of the "Health Food Outlet" is a dream come true. "Some of the hospital customers are coming to buy food from here". A Signs Magazine rack placed outside the restaurant is always empty. "The mall's pedestrian traffic is such that the SIGNS and the RECORD magazines literally fly out of here", Mr Dakua added.

Looking for a place to have lunch? Take the nutritious option. Visit Shop 11 in the South Mall. It is located next to the ADRA (Fiji) city Youth Centre. Thank you for supporting our Adventist women.

Class 5 student couriers message of Hope - leads to Nausori Baptism

Twenty people were baptised on Sabbath July 17 in Nausori (18 km from Suva). This was a result of Evangelistic meetings run by Pr Brian Chand and supported by the Nasinu Indian Seventh-day Adventist Church as well as the Nausori district church members.

Funded by special tithe allocation from the General Conference - the meetings is one of the many specially targeting the Indo-Fijian population.

Way before the meetings commenced  - two men, Temo Colavanua ( Methodist) and Moses Ageeb (AOG) were studying the Bible at their own pace through the Bible Discovery Centre - a department operated by the Adventist Media Centre. The AMC is based at the church head office in Suvavou.

Their lessons would be "couriered" to them by Elizabeth Tuivanuatani - a class five student at the Suva Adventist Primary School.

Elizabeth carried the lessons to and from Nausori in her school backpack. Upon arriving at school, she would hand over the lessons to Discovery Centre Director - Mrs Kelera Rokeva. Kelera would mark the lessons during the day while Elizabeth was at school and drop-off new lessons plus the marked lessons to Elizabeth before she caught the school bus to Nausori in the afternoon.

Elizabeth smiled when she realised she played a "little" role in evangelism. " I am excited that the Discovery Centre is watering the ground and planting seeds that eventually leads to baptisms even among the Indian communities" Mrs Kelera Rokeva said.

The Fiji Mission Bible Discovery Centre is resourced and supported by the Adventist Media  Network's (AMN) Discovery Centre in Wahroonga, Sydney - Australia.

Evangelism shed pulled down in Catholic village

On a strech of the Queens Highway between Suva and Navua sits the village of Lobau.

Mid -  June, a shed built in the village for Evagelistic meetings is pulled down.

WHY? Lobau is headquarters for the Catholic Mission in the province of Namosi. It was of course abit uncomfortable to have the Seventh-day Adventists too close!!

ENTER Mr Ravuama, a non-Adventist and landowner.  He was approached for permission to establish the shed and Evangelistic meetings HQ on land he owned by the highway and adjacent to the village of Lobau.

He said YES and when Mission Evangelist Pr Tiko Kabu preached from Daniel 2 on the first night June 27 - he was there with his son AND they have never missed a night since.

On Sabbath July 31 - Ravuama and his son along with 28 other precious souls were baptised  in Lobau. We praise GOD!

Pastors Luke Narabe and Pita Tokalau officiated. Our Mission President, Pr Aseri Suka was God's spokesperson during the Divine Service hour.

Pr Tiko Kabu is familiar with road humps and road blocks along the many highways and by-ways that he has travelled on behalf of the Gospel Message in the past 20 years. "The support from our church members in this area and district has been most encouraging" says Ralifo Varea who serves as special assistant to Pr Kabu within the department of Personal Ministry. "They have invested time, money and provided refreshments every night in the past 5 weeks", he said.

The Trans Pacific Union, Fiji Mission and local church members provided financial support for the campaign. Next time you are speeding past Lobau village, offer a prayer for our friends who have yet to join God's family. Who knows, one day with your support - you will be driving/riding past a Seventh-day Adventist Church - a testimony to an all powerful God and what HE WILL DO along any Evangelistic highway.

Thank you for your prayers and support.
